When reputable sources disagree on a value, the dispute goes on trial. An agent (the clerk) opens a case through Sanity Workflows and files a brief from every claim in the ledger; a person rules in the Bench Court app, an App SDK app in the Sanity Dashboard. A ruling is written back as a lab rule, and Aliquot applies it before any outside source. These are the rulings so far, read live from the public dataset.
“Both apply: in this lab, leave freshly diluted 1:10 bleach on spills for at least 20 minutes; for spills inside a biosafety cabinet, follow the stricter 30 minutes.”
Claim on trial: “Allow 30 minutes of contact time. The contact time may vary depending on the decontaminant used. Follow manufacturer's directions.” Biohazardous Spills (EH&S Biosafety)
Question: For a biohazardous spill inside a biological safety cabinet, what bleach contact time should be used? UW EH&S Biosafety states: “Allow 30 minutes of contact time… may vary depending on the decontaminant used. Follow manufacturer’s directions.” (30 min; authority 3/5; applies to UW EH&S biological spills). UCSB’s “Biological Spill Response Step-By-Step” states: use the disinfectant’s specified contact time; “20 minutes’ contact time for freshly diluted 10% bleach (final vol/vol).” (20 min; authority 3/5; applies to UCSB spills). Case Western states: apply decontamination agent (e.g., 1:10 bleach) and “leave for 15–20 minutes.” (15–20 min; authority 3/5; applies to Case spills). These do not strictly conflict: they are institution-specific guidance and disinfectant/conditions-dependent ranges. Clerk recommends: both apply — UW requires 30 minutes for UW spills; other institutions permit 15–20 minutes for similar bleach under their protocols.
